Professor Al Mureden’s keynote address during the plenary session, entitled “Protecting vulnerable road users in the age of assisted and automated driving between current rules and new perspectives“, will focus on the creation of a regulatory framework to govern emerging automotive technologies, ensuring that their development is seamlessly aligned with road safety principles and the achievement of the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. His presentation will address the transition from a traditional driver-centric civil liability system to a new paradigm that seeks to fully protect victims, even in accidents involving products that meet safety standards.
